Two of the most useful shop notifications are also the simplest: a product is available again, or a price just went down. Both are sent to everyone who subscribed, and both can be switched on in a few minutes.
A note on status: WooCommerce support is still under development, and you can use it today. Try it on the Free plan first, then upgrade to Premium when you are happy with how it works for your shop.
Back in stock
When a product you had run out of is available again, the plugin can send a notification such as:
Back in stock
The Ceramic pour-over set is available again.
Use the {product} placeholder so each message names the right product.
Price drop
When a price falls, a notification can show the new price and the old one:
Price drop
Linen throw is now $42 (was $58).
The placeholders are {product}, {old_price} and {new_price}. You choose the minimum drop worth announcing. The default is 5 percent, so tiny changes stay quiet.
New orders
You can also send a short “Someone just ordered” message about a recent purchase. It names what was bought, such as a walnut serving board, and never who bought it. The placeholders are {items} and {total}.
Keep them useful, not noisy
- Raise the minimum price drop if you change prices often. Ten percent feels like news. One percent feels like spam.
- Send to a segment. Since version 1.16.0 these automatic notifications can use a saved segment, for example one country or only mobile visitors, and can include one action button.
- Edit every message. The default wording works, but your own voice gets more taps.
- Do not announce everything. A list that only hears about meaningful changes keeps listening.
Where this fits
Back in stock and price drop go to your whole list, while the abandoned cart reminder goes to one shopper. Together they cover the four WooCommerce triggers. You can see all of them on the WooCommerce page, and learn when to send for everything else.
